Our Vision
This is an embodiment of 35 years of thought. It is not a mission statement though it may have elements of one.
- We are primarily here to relieve pain and suffering. Toothache is the universal pain - everyone has teeth. We are ennobled by the role; to serve humanity in this way.
- We are here to help you restore what time destroys. However, nothing will stand the test of time; everything is finite. Everything that is man made has its limitations. Nothing is ideal and in the end, a compromise. However this should not lead to despair or cynicism, but a greater appreciation of reality.
- There are limitations to what can be achieved. You have financial limitations. It is fine having champagne tastes but having only enough for beer. The dentist has limitations from a knowledge and wisdom perspective. The best a dentist can be is limited by the dentist's knowledge. This is why continuing education is vital. We allocate a generous amount of time each year to continuing education. The dentistry that can be delivered is limited by the dentist's skill, technical training, world view, beliefs, well being, altruism, compassion and kindness to list but a few. The patient, however, is limited by financial concerns, expectations, patience, and biological considerations, especially where the treatment is protracted. The patient is often fearful, as a result of early childhood experience or because of past treatment or post operative pain. Every person is unique and brings to the dentist's practice unique challenges and requirements which will change as the dentist/patient goes along the life span. What is important to the patient can only be worked out on a one-on-one basis with the dentist.
